Bug bites and butterflies

Often times, I think about what photography in general has meant to me.  I have to admit that ever since I bought my first SLR for myself on my first Father's Day (yeah that's how I roll), I have been bitten by the photography bug.  It not only has allowed me to gain a creative outlet, but also a chance to truly examine the person within.  Who am I and what is my vision?  But what I am most truly thankful for that photography has given me is a new pair of eyes (and lenses and then some).  It has taught me to view the world as curious child.  It has taught me not just to stop and smell the flowers, but also to see the butterflies that flutter around them.
If you're about to hurl from the mushiness, go right ahead :).  Happy Friday!

Teann and Dave - Tea Ceremony

Scenes from Teann and Dave's Tea Ceremonies.
It was a great honor to document this family event for Teann and Dave.
One thing that I appreciated/experienced is the sign of respect that this tradition held
for its elder family members.  Way cool!
Thanks Teann and Dave for allowing me to be a small part of your big day!

Teann and Dave - Engaged

A stroll through a small amusement park and downtown Manhattan.
Today, Teann and Dave will be tying the knot and I am happy to spend the early part
of their day documenting the Tea Ceremonies with their respective families.
Thanks to the folks at Kandila for helping me with these shoots.
As always, we'd be honored to document your engagement and special day,
so please feel free to contact us!

Jeff and Lady - Married

I received a phone call from my older brother that usually never happens - he asked me to be his
second shooter for Jeff and Lady's wedding day.  Taking sucker punches from this dude as a kid to
one day shooting a wedding beside him - wow- I never thought it would actually happen.
You don't often see your own family member work under pressure but it was a pleasure to see my
bro's shooting style, technique and his poise during the wedding day.  Couple of nuggets here and there.
Thanks for the opportunity, kuya!  Hope to do it again soon.

He only needed me from prep to the portraits, and that is why there are no reception details and images.
On to some of my faves from the rest of the day...
Congratulations to Jeff and Lady, thank you for sharing a part of your day with the Mercado brothers!
As always, feel free to contact me if you are in need of a photographer on your wedding day.
