Walking down 2010 Memory Lane

Three hours after the New Year's countdown, I am sitting here in front of my computer reflecting on 2010.
Dust settled, the sound decibel has gone way down, the family is asleep and it's just me and my thoughts.
Thinking back, here are some important personal/work/random events that have happened in 2010:
1.  Karolina (~3 years old) stepped into her skis for the first time and did so 3 more times during 2010
2.  Visited the Philippines after 20+ years in absence
3.  Started to shoot more film and sent my first 13 rolls of 35mm and MF film to Richard Photo Lab.
4.  Lucia turned 1!
5.  My grandfather, Lolo Pards, passed.
6.  Three friends and I have officially formed Kandila Photography, LLC and subsequently held very successful portrait events later in the year.
7.  The company that employs me as a lab scientist was forcefully bought out.
8.  Karolina initiated her ballet/tap lessons and she loves it!
9.  I got my first paying gig as a real estate photographer.
10.  The pharmaceutical company that bought us out eventually offered me a position, but not everyone was so lucky as I was (including dear friends of mine).
11.  I was introduced to CreativeLive.com and have been hooked ever since.
12.  On the last day of 2010, my dear Lola Isabelle, passed.
13.  Lucia went full-time in daycare.

2010 - Wow - bittersweet ending.  So glad it is over, but will remember it for a lifetime.  Through the uncertainty of work, the sadness and happiness that I have felt with my family, to the beginnings of my second career, 2010 has been eventful.  The best decision I made in 2010 easily goes to deciding to visit the Philippines after all these years.  If not, I could easily be living a life of regret after what's happened to both my grandparents this year.  Here's to you Lola, I will surely treasure the brief time we had together in my visit back home.
Ad here's to a most happy, blessed and eventful 2011!  Cheers everyone!

  1. What an eventful year. Actually, there was one more noteworthy item, but I can understand your saving it for 2011.

  2. Sorry to hear of your grandma's passing, Pete. I'm glad you took the opportunity to see both your grandparents last year. I think it's a lesson many of us can learn; to visit those close to us when we can.
